In 1947 an unusual aircraft crashed in the desert of New Mexico, near Roswell Army Air Base, scattering debris unlike anything previously found on this earth - strangely marked scraps of an unknown substance thinner than silk and utterly indestructible. Hurriedly claiming it was a new kind of weather balloon, the Government sent in a handful of experts to analyse the wreckage and camouflage the results - an operation code-named Majestic. It was then that the most extraordinary events of all began to occur.

In this novel, Whitley Strieber takes the reader into the hidden world of what might have been, recreating the crash-landing that yielded three corpses, two obviously alien and one strangely human; the "shoot to kill" orders passed down from the President; the cover-up campaign to force civilian witnesses to recant their public testimonies; and the inferiority of U.S. armed forces against the mindboggling power of the aliens.

Majestic also tells of our own fear of the unknown, and the breathtaking, marvellous opportunity we had to commune with life beyond the stars - and how we lost that chance.

Blending fact with fiction, combining official documents and years of research, this presents what could very well be the truth behind the Roswell Incident.
